When I first get into the massage room and I’m lying face down with my harms hanging off the front of the table, my fingertips don’t quite reach the floor. By the time the massage is over, I swear I can put my palms flat on the deck — that’s how much Jen or Colleen are able to loosen up my shoulders. It is heaven on earth … just amazing tension release.

I wanted to let you and Jen know what a huge gift my massage was on Monday. The next day I woke up and found breathing easier and a new range of movement throughout my body. It was like losing ten years, and was easily the most therapeutic medical treatment I’ve had in years. I’m copying this letter to Janet Bartlett, the head Benefits person at Williams, to thank her office for including massages as part of the benefit program. I’ve never taken advantage of it before, but I certainly will from here out.

I had the distinct pleasure of receiving a massage by the hands of owner/operator Molly Kerns, of Tsubo Massage on Water Street in Williamstown, Mass., last Thursday.
All these days later, I can still feel the effects. My spine is opened up and several people have commented upon my posture. I do a lot of walking, and my feet are totally opened up and I feel like I have big duck feet!, there being so much more of my foot actually sitting on the ground than before.
I think more blood is flowing to my brain, and, frankly, I’m looking forward to going back.
The experience of the massage itself, of course, is equally or more what it’s about. Molly has a terrific manner — if there’s such a thing as holistic massage, that’s what she practices. We didn’t really know each other beforehand, but in the short time I was with her I felt she really got to know a lot about me and what physical concerns needed to be addressed.
She was very sensitive to areas that needed attention, very sensitive to not causing pain (she didn’t at all), and free with advice for how I could, on my own, sustain some of the areas of attention that she was correcting through massage of my muscles and whatever else it is she massaged.
She has a great setup there at Tsubo — very comfortable, warm (literally — I loved the warm table), and inviting. Low-key, not too airy-fairy, but definitely relaxing enough so that when the massage was over (waah!) and I stood up, I literally felt weightless — it felt like I had no torso weighing down on my hips. I will never forget that sensation, and I look forward to experiencing it again not before too long.
So, in sum, I heartily recommend that you try out Tsubo and Molly. She has other practitioners working there, about whom I can’t speak with firsthand knowledge. But Molly clearly comes to her practice and art with a wealth of knowledge, sensitivity, and experience, and I can’t imagine going to anyone else besides Molly.
[Be] sure you tell Molly I sent you!
